Here is a short tutorial for getting started with WebWork.
2. Click on your class.
3. Your username is your UC Davis MailID, which may be different from your UC Davis LoginID. Your MailID is the part of your UCD email address that comes before "@ucdavis.edu" and is usually your first and middle initials followed by your last name. This is not necessarily the username you use to sign into MyUCDavis or SmartSite! For example, if your e-mail was "mathrocks@ucdavis.edu", your username for WebWork is "mathrocks". Your initial password is your student ID number.
4. Once at the home screen, click on "Password/Email".
5. Change your password so that other people can not access your account. Remember that your current password is your student ID number.
6. Now go back to the home screen by clicking "Homework Sets". You should see a "TestHomework" available. Let's make sure it works. Click on TestHomework.
7. You should see a number problems listed (may look different than below):
- Notice that it tells you how many times you have attempted each problem, how many attempts you have remaining, the point values, and your score thus far.
- Also notice the "Email Instructor" button. If you are having technical problems, e-mail your lead TA by clicking on that button!
8. If we click on problem 6. We see this (will be different for each class):
9. We enter a few answers using notation common for mathematical input into a computer. A list is available here.
10. Now, work out the problem. We input a few solution, then first click "Preview Answer" to see if we entered them correctly. It will look like this:
- ALWAYS preview your answer. If you accidently type your answer wrong, this will catch it and you will notice that what you entered is not what you really wanted to submit.
- Notice it says, "PREVIEW ONLY -- ANSWERS NOT RECORDED". You have to click "Submit Answers" to get credit for the problem. Or, adjust your solution and click "Preview Answers" again to check the input.
11. Do this for all the problems on the TestHomework.
12. Questions? Contact your Lead TA or Instructor.
